I have included a photo of a boire sample with some lacquer on it to demonstrate the rich colour it takes on when finished.

Since the listing of all the dalbergias on CITES II January 2017 and the associated difficulties exporting instruments made from them it has been our mission to look for some alternatives that might be useful in the same areas.

Boire is a deep red brown with fine markings in a darker colour, similar in density to many species of rosewood, and not too difficult to work.

Boire is pronounced bo-ahr-ee.

Boire wood is new to me and I hope it will be well received by luthiers.
